Apply For The Ashinaga Africa Initiative For Orphans

About the scholarship

The Ashinaga Africa Initiative was launched in 2014. Its mission is to contribute to the growing role of sub-Saharan Africa in global development through improved access to higher education overseas. We support orphaned students who feel obliged to return home and initiate change by providing access to full financial support for studying at a university abroad (comparable to a bachelor’s degree). Ashinaga Support covers lessons, accommodation, travel expenses and other necessary fees.

Eligiblity :

  •  Must be an orphan, have lost one or both parents
  • 23 years or younger, born after 1 October 1995
  • Have graduated from high school in the last two years
  • To be obliged to return to sub-Saharan Africa after completing her studies abroad

Applicants Requirement : 

  • Completed application form
  • E-mail address and phone number
  • Document proving the death of one or both parents, e.g. B. a death certificate
  • Proof of age, such as birth certificate, identity card or passport
  • High school diploma
  • Results from the national final examinations
  • Academic certificates from the last two years of high school / secondary school
  • Letter of recommendation from a school principal or teacher
  • Passport photo of you
  • Both essays are described below:

Please write / write with a separate piece of paper. If you write your essays by hand, please write in print and with black ink. Essays with pencils are not accepted.

Essay 1: Please describe how you grew up and how you lost your parents. What challenges did you face after losing your parents and what did you do to overcome them? Please write in detail, in particular the measures you have taken to continue and continue your education. (Maximum 500 words)
Essay 2: Please describe the goals you want to achieve after graduation. Outline how the skills and knowledge you gain from a university degree would help you achieve your goals when you return to sub-Saharan Africa. (Maximum 500 words)
Keep in mind that these essays are personal – they are about you and should therefore only be written by you. Ashinaga is interested in how to make the most of what’s available to you.

Please note,There are three ways to promote the Ashinaga Africa Initiative, although we prefer online applications or send them by e-mail. There is no registration fee and you should never pay anyone who wants to advertise or apply for you.
