Colombo Plan Scholarship Program for Australian Students

Registrations are currently accepted for the New Colombo Plan Scholarship Program for Australian Students. The 2020 Scholarship allows undergraduate Australian students to undertake semester-based studies and mentoring internships at participating Indo-Pacific locations.
The purpose of the scholarship is to help Australian students live, work and study in 40 locations in the Indo-Pacific region, including Caledonia and French Polynesia. 120 to 150 scholarships will be awarded.

The objectives of the NCP Scholarship Program are:

  • Providing about 120 prestigious and highly competitive scholarships to a wide range of Australian university students in various disciplines;
  • support more study experiences in a wide range of Indo-Pacific areas;
  • Encourage researchers to pursue long-term studies, language studies, internships and / or private lessons;
  • Engage researchers, Australian universities and other stakeholders in diplomacy and public awareness;
  • Continue to develop an active alumni community to allow former researchers to share their experiences, promote the NCP and continue to develop professional knowledge and links with the Indo-Pacific region.

The type of study supported by the Colombo Plan

The new Colombo plan involves:

  • A prestigious scholarship program for studies of up to one year and internships or mentors, and
  • A flexible mobility scholarship program for short-term and long-term studies, internships, mentors, internships and research.

All studies funded by the Colombo Plan must receive credit for an undergraduate degree in Australia.

Level / field of study

The scholarship is open to undergraduate students from 18 to 28 years of age in Australian universities. In addition, the NCP has the capacity to include students over 28 years of age in mobility projects funded by the new Colombo Plan.

Scholarship Value

  • A monthly allowance of $ 2,500 for basic living expenses in their home.
  • Health and travel insurance for the duration of the scholarship program.
  • A dedicated case manager who provides services such as pre-departure briefings, health and travel advice, accommodation advice and assistance, and the payment of compensation.
  • An additional $ 1,000 will be awarded to Colombo Scholars (the top ranked researcher in each location and the top ranked Indochers researcher) for the purchase of study materials for use in their program. scholarships.

Eligibility for the Scholarship Program of the Colombo Plan

To be eligible, applicants to the 2020 scholarship program of the Colombo Plan must adhere to the following:

  • Have been appointed by their home university.
  • Being an Australian citizen
  • Applicants can not undertake their scholarship at a place of residence in which they have dual citizenship or permanent residence. or in which they have already been a citizen or permanent resident.
  • You must be enrolled in units located on an onshore campus of an Australian university during the application process.
  • Should be between 18 and 28 years old (inclusive) on January 1, 2020.
  • Candidates must have achieved at least 70% of the average or equivalent for their undergraduate course at the time of application, as determined by the home university.
  • At the beginning of the scholarship program, candidates must undertake a bachelor’s degree or an honors degree.
  • Applicants must not have already received a grant from the New Colombo Plan.
