PhD Top Up Scholarships for Australians in Australia, 2018 Scholarship Positions 2018 2019

The Cancer Council Western Australia is offering PhD Top Up Scholarships to highly ranked PhD students. This scholarship is available to Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

This scholarship will be awarded to a student with an outstanding track record in academic achievement, and who is conducting research into the causes and/or treatment of bladder cancer.

Cancer Council Western Australia aims to minimize the effect of cancer on our community through research and education and by providing people affected by cancer with support to enhance their quality of life. A key objective of the Cancer Council is to encourage and support a wide range of research activities into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer and leukaemia.

Scholarship Description

  • Applications Deadline: October 31, 2018
  • Course Level: Scholarship is available to study PhD programme.
  • Study Subject: Scholarship is awarded to do research in causes and/or treatment of bladder cancer.
  • Scholarship Award: The PhD Top Up Scholarships will be allocated to highly ranked PhD students who have been awarded a Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend or equivalent. The amount available for the PhD Top Up scholarships is up to $36,000 for up to 3 years full-time, with a maximum payable rate of $12,000 per annum.
  • Nationality: Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • Number of Scholarships: Two scholarships are available.
  • Scholarship can be taken in Australia

Eligibility for the Scholarship

Eligible Countries: Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Entrance Requirements: The following students are eligible to apply:

  1. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.
  2. Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD at the time the top up starts. The PhD must commence no later than August 2019
  3. Applicants must have:

Completed requirements for the award of an appropriate degree with a minimum of upper second-class Honours or

A Medical Degree.

  1. Applicants must be enrolled, or be eligible to enroll as a full-time student in an approved post bachelor course at an eligible institution.
  2. Applicants must have applied for a three year competitive postgraduate scholarship, such as an RTP
  3. Receipt of this Scholarship is contingent upon the receipt of an RTP or equivalent award

The following

Students are ineligible to apply: Students who are the recipient of a stipend that exceeds the amount of $34,000 pa. This can include an RTP Stipend or equivalent with / without an additional top-up scholarship.
